Early Medieval Cemeteries – Porth Clew 2008
Cist graves, probably of early medieval date, were revealed
in 2000 close to a ruined medieval chapel. The extent of the cist-grave
cemetery, its relationship to the chapel and the potential of other archaeological
remains around the chapel is unknown. This project, in conjunction with
the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, is addressing these issues through
survey and an excavation involving members of the local community.

Geophysical survey of the field. The chapel is the blank square
on the left hand side of the main survey area, note the enclosure
around it. The cemetery was discovered in the smaller field, to
the left of the main survey area.
